Our Story

Fathom Coffee started in 2016 with a simple idea: what if we went deeper? Bob and Jeff, father and son, both Navy veterans, set up a Chemex bar in an underground office in Virginia Beach. That tiny bar became a conversation — about where coffee comes from, how it's grown, and why small differences in craft produce extraordinary cups.

Today, we roast in small batches at our Virginia Beach roastery, working directly with farms and cooperatives to source coffees that tell a story. Every jar we roast reflects our belief that understanding coffee — from source to sip — makes each cup more meaningful.

Fathom means "to understand deeply." That's what we do with every coffee we source, every batch we roast, and every cup we pour.
